Animal Story(Sept 18)

Animal Story----Dragon

Although regarded as a kind of monster in western culture, dragons are a scared, vigorous symbol in Chinese culture. Dragons, considered as scared creatures from the heaven which have divine power. The emperors always linked themselves to dragons to show their power and authority. Thus, dragons received common respect in ancient China. There is an interesting story on it.

Ye Gong was a rich merchant, he admired dragons deeply. He retained the greatest painters to draw dragons on the wall of his house to make them perfectly lifelike. Moreover, there were engraving of dragons on the columns and the ceiling, and even Brede on all of his clothes. Knowing the religiosity of him, the dragons in the heaven were inspired deeply. They decided to descend to the land to visit Ye Gong.
Turgidly swimming between the trees and clouds, the dragons came. After their arrival, the dragons laid their gorgeous and long tails on the hall of Ye Gong’s house and stuck their heads in through the window, making warm greeting to him. Surprisingly, his face lost color, and he fled rapidly with fear. Originally, what Ye Gong admired were not the real dragons.

What’s the moral of this fable?
